Welcome to my website!
My name is Arenda Evers and I have been breeding dogs for a number of years. My great love for the White Swiss Shepherd, but also the fear that the breed will be bred to destruction, made me decide to do things differently.
Outcross dogs
Some breeders are already familiar with the principle of Outcross, but not everyone knows exactly what it is.
OUTCROSS - Mixed breeds?
By crossing different breeds, you expand the genetic diversity of the individual and reduce the risk of (autosomal homozygous) hereditary diseases. By selective breeding using genetic testing, you can greatly reduce the risk of defects and deviations.
The Outcross program is not intended to simply mix breeds. This is preceded by a careful plan that takes into account breed-typical characteristics. By breeding for desired characteristics, you actually hope to breed a dog in 3 generations that meets the breed standard of the FCI.
When that time comes, the offspring in question can be approved by the kennelclub in order to be included in the Studbook (FCI) again.
Pedigree
All my dogs are tested at Embark and their results will also be available for public viewing. In addition, my dogs are tested via X-ray photography and will be free of HD, ED and Back disorders before they are used for the breeding program.
In addition, their ancestry (through a DNA swab) is recorded in the Dutch Database of FGH so that their background will be known.
Prospective owners will therefore receive a proof of parentage when they buy a puppy here
To be eligible for a puppy, you as a prospective owner must meet certain conditions. It is very important to me that my puppies receive the best care and future. I don't bring puppies into the world to earn a living from it. I just have a job and live in a nice corner house in Scherpenzeel. Only one or a maximum of two litters will be born here per year. And since I invest a lot of money in my dogs, their training, health testing, further training in my knowledge, the costs for me will always be higher than the returns.
Host families
My kennel currently has 18 beautiful dogs, but not all of them live in my home. I work with host families so that all dogs (individually) receive the love and attention they deserve. These host families support my vision and understand the importance of my breeding plans in this outcross program.
Dogs are always treated respectfully here and their well-being is always my priority. If that means that a dog is not suitable for breeding, then that will not happen and that dog will be allowed to grow old happily here at home or in the host family.
In addition to my breeding ambitions, I like to help people train their dogs, I guide families as a puppy coach and I occasionally foster a dog here at home. Due to holidays or because the dog is looking for a warm basket.
Look-a-like white shepherds
When I decide to cross a new breed, I will always pay attention to qualities that you would like or not want to see in the breed. Breeds with a high biting drive, problems with social interactions, fearful and insecure or other bad manners will not be used for breeding
Yet I have noticed that there is a lot of prejudice about many breeds and there is often a tendency to only look at the extreme cases. Within each breed there are different degrees when it comes to breed characteristics. Personally, I will always stay away from dogs with an extreme drive for one thing or another.
If you are open to all the good qualities that other breeds could add, a wonderful world will open up for you
The White Swiss Shepherd must above all be a people-oriented dog that can blend in well with our society.
First Generation Outcross (F1)
The first generation Outcross is always a mix of breeds because a puppy inherits 50% of both parents. This means that you will often not immediately see the desired color, coat or ear position in the first generation. Yet all these specimens contain 'all' the ingredients of the White Swiss Shepherd, which means that you can see many breed characteristics again in the second generation.
Second generation (Back crossing White Swiss Shepherd) F2
The second generation contains 3/4 white shepherd, so many breed characteristics will be clearly visible again. These are dogs that will have a lot of genetic diversity, but often still have a number of breed-deviating characteristics. Like a high tail carriage, smaller ears, a slightly different leg position. And they often also have slightly different behavior from the breed with which the outcross was created.
Third generation (Look-a-like) F3
In the third outcross generation you will see very little of the incrossed breed. Many breed enthusiasts will hardly be able to distinguish this generation from the purebred pedigree dogs. The intention is to have this generation included in the FCI studbook, so that these dogs can also participate in shows, competitions and make an important contribution to future generations.
Interested in a dog?
Would you be interested in one of my dogs, perhaps for mating with your own dog or would you like to buy a puppy?
Send me an email to info@devrolijkewitteherder.nl and I will be happy to assist you
A puppy from the Netherlands may only cross the border from 15 weeks of age. They must have had the Rabies vaccination at the age of 12 weeks.
So keep that in mind...
